Passing the torch

June Desmond became publisher of the Milton Times after working two decades in social services. She learned the business long ago before deciding to work “normal” hours while raising her two children.

Those children, Hayley and Desmond Bradford, have both spent time working in their grandmother’s business while they tested living in Massachusetts. Hayley now lives in Maine with her significant other and their year-old daughter. Desmond is working in the medical industry.

Now their grandmother, who is 76, is already on the sidelines after facing a chronic condition related to age. Pat Desmond founded the Milton Times in 1995. June was a key piece in the founding team.

In 1996 at the High Street office of the Milton Times are the four generations of the Desmond family who founded the newspaper. Pat Desmond, stands at the back, seated from left are June Desmond, Hayley Bradford and the late Mary Erwin, Pat’s mother.
